summary
The original manuscript of the first Hebrew-French dictionary.
This dictionary - a work of twenty years - was produced by Jacob Cremieu (1776-1849?) of Carpentras, although it appears that it was never published. Like all dictionaries, it is arranged alphabetically, however it utilizes the root-letters of words as the means by which it is organized in a two-part system. A detailed foreword by the author, recounts how the work came to be and what his scholarly intentions were.
ff. 221. Original calf tooled in gilt. Folio.
