Dutch physician Olfert Dapper (1636-1689) traveled to Africa, China, Persia, Georgia, Arabia, Egypt and the Holy Land, leaving a rich geographical and historical record of his travels. Dapper’s work is noted for its objective approach, free of his contemporaries’ European ethnocentrism. Present here are fine views of Damascus, Tripoli, Aleppo, Jaffa, the Temple of Solomon and a birds-eye view of Jerusalem.
