The Cansinos were a celebrated North African family that hailed originally from Seville, Spain. Several generations of the family served as advisers to the rulers of Oran, Algeria. Various members distinguished themselves as religious poets. During the 18th-century, the family fanned out to Livorno, Italy; Mahon, Minorca; Mogador (Esaouira), Morocco; Gibraltar; and London.
