Includes prayer on behalf of Leopold the Second, Grand Duke of Tuscany. Leopold II (1797-1870) was the last reigning Grand Duke of Tuscany. As he ruled from 1824-1859, that narrows the date of composition of our manuscript to those years. The prayer-book preserves the distinct custom of the community of Pitigliano. "In Pitigliano, on the borders of the Papal States, a number of refugees from the rigors of Jewish life in Rome settled, creating a community out of all proportion to the natural importance of the town" C. Roth, The History of the Jews of Italy, p. 345
