The yeshiva in Nitra was the very last to remain open in Nazi-occupied Europe. R. Shmuel Dovid perished on the run from the Nazis in early 1945. His celebrated sons-in-law were Rabbi Michael Dov Weissmandl (1903-57) and the Klausenberger Rebbe (1905-94).
