FIRST EDITION. Hebrew text, additional German title-page.

Excellent bio-bibliographic work on R. Jacob Emden and his writings. Also contains previously unpublished correspondence and responsa between Emden and Moses Mendelssohn. Plus a listing and explanation of 1700 abbreviations noted in Emden’s Siddur Amudei Shamayim. The fascinating and varied life of R. Ya’akov Emden has attracted much historical attention. The most updated contribution to this study is expected to be Rabbi Dr. Jacob J. Schachter’s critical translation of Emden’s Megillath Sepher (forthcoming).
