summary
The purpose of the gathering is “Hisorerus,” to arouse a response to what was perceived to be a decaying spiritual environment.
The letter is signed in autograph by twenty Torah scholars of Jerusalem, many of whom would emerge as leaders of the Yerushalmi community, especially Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv (1910-2012). The primary signatories are Rabbi Yisrael Yitzchak Reisman (1889-1969) and Rabbi Moshe Yair Weinstock (1900-82).
