summary

First printed in Constantinople in 1514, Menorath HaMaor has remained throughout the centuries an immensely popular work of religious edification. The book is of immense value to scholars as well, preserving as it does Spanish-North African (as opposed to Franco-German) recensions of the legends of the Talmud. See EJ, Vol. II, cols. 90-91.
