Son of the first Bobover Rebbe R. Shlomo Halberstam (1847–1905) and grandson of the Divrei Chaim of Sanz, R. Benzion Halberstam succeeded his father as Rebbe when he was 31 years old and subsequently vastly expanded Bobov Chassidus. Tragically, in 1941 he was murdered along with family members by the Nazis and their Ukrainian henchmen. Letters from the Kedushas Tzion are exceptionally rare.
