Dinim of Shechitah [Laws of Kosher slaughtering with questions and answers for the practicing Shochet].

(AMERICAN JUDAICA)

19th century

Manuscript in English interspersed with Hebrew. Written in a neat English cursive script; square Hebrew letters on paper.

As there was a dearth of properly trained Shochetim in America, precise training manuals containing the laws of Shechitah were compiled. The penultimate leaf of the present manuscript contains an account stating "four months at four thousand and forty three…dollars," indicating this manuscript was composed in the United States.
