summary

The Inquisition of Peru notifies the Inquisition in Mexico of the sighting of a Portuguese merchant and auctioneer named Gonzalo Barraza about whom six witnesses have determined that he practices Judaism and thus should be immediately arrested. Records show that by 1641 Gonzalo Barraza was apprehended by the Inquisition and held in their detention facilities in Cartagena, Colombia. The Peruvian Inquisition stretched from 1570-1820, ceasing to exist upon the advent of the Peruvian War of Independence.
