summary
This rare Talmudic discourse debates the issue of the “raddish and olive” as discused in Tractate Berachoth, folio 41. The question raised is which blessing takes priority when these two food-stuffs are eaten together. This was a popular topic for debate in the EuropeanYeshivoth at the time. In the present discourse, Stathaagen explores the argument that if two foods of equal status are eaten together, one should first recite a blessing on the food that is prefered.
It is interesting to note that although bibliographers identify the author of the discourse as Judah Stathaagen, his name does not appear anywhere in the work. In the colophon, the author is identified as Judah Halberstadt
