summary

Many Chassidic rabbis encouraged their followers to only study the Talmud from the editions printed by the Shapira Brothers as they were thought to be of impeccable religiosity and of aristocratic Chassidic stock. It is felt that an aura of holiness pervades the publications of the Shapira family of printers.

Few marginal repairs, lightly browned and stained in places, previous owners’ marks. Uniform contemporary calf-backed boards. Rebacked, some wear. Folio.
