summary

Appeal to help our “unfortunate brethren under Soviet rule.” Due to their wretched economic condition, they are on the verge of starvation. “We are aware of the worldwide economic depression, yet Russian Jewry must be assisted and provided with Matzoth for Pesach.” This historical poster indicates the positive interaction of the Chofetz Chaim, R. Chaim Ozer and the previous Lubavitcher Rebbe, working together for the benefit of the community at large. See S. D. Lewin, Toldoth Chabad Be’Russia HaSovietith (1989) pp. 121-22.
