Oil on Canvas. Signed and dated by the artist lower left, and inscribed “Rytro” (a village in Nowy Sacz, Poland). Titled by the artist on reverse on stretcher. Polish exhibition label on verso dated 18. XI. 1947. Framed.

Born in Lodz, Poland, Samuel Hirszenberg (1865-1908) was a Polish-Jewish realist painter. He emigrated to Palestine in 1907 where he taught at the Bezalel School of Art in Jerusalem.
Oil paintings by Hirszenberg are scarce to appear for auction sale.
