summary
Excessively rare response to Jonathan Eybescheutz’s Luchoth Eiduth (1755). Almost all of Emden’s polemical writings were banned upon publication. According to Carmilly-Weinberger “copies of [this work] by Emden [are] difficult to obtain because the ban against [them] had been quite effective” (Censorship and Freedom of Expression in Jewish History, p.88).
An outgrowth of the shattering Emden-Eybescheutz polemical crises which centered over amulets that Eybescheutz circulated in Metz and Hamburg.
ff. 69, 50-66. Stained. Later calf, worn. Sm. 4to.
