Covered are the medical practitioners of antiquity, as recorded in the Bible and Talmud, through the Middle Ages. According to Friedenwald, this translation was made from the journal publications of Carmoly’s work, which preceded the first edition of Histoire des Médecins Juifs anciens et modernes (Brussels, 1844)
