summary

The Sepher MaHaRI”L contains extensive manuscript notations of historic importance throughout. Written in two Ashkenazic hands, consistently inserting the relevant custom of Frankfurt (including Manheim) and those of Worms and Mainz as cited by the MaHaRI"L. Many events, dates and decisions of prominent Rabbis and scholars from sixteenth and seventeenth century Frankfurt are cited. Such events include when Parshath Hachodesh, Rosh Chodesh and Brith Milah occurred simultaneously in 1655 (f. 73v). Another example cites the simultaneous occurrence of a wedding, Rosh Chodesh eve and Parshath Ki Teitzei in 1629 (f.75r). Discussions by the great scholar R. Akiva of Frankfurt (who was eulogized by the MaHaRa"l of Prague, 1597) are cited a number of times
