summary

Issued on behalf of the Israel Defense Forces and based on the style of the traditional Passover Hagadah, this original text innovates a service for Israel’s Independence Day. However, the tensions inherent in manipulating new liturgical forms resulted in controversy, and the State’s religious authorities demanded the withdrawal of the publication and all copies surpressed. Surviving copies are rare.
