summary

The First Karaite Hagadah. An Exceptionally rare and exotic Edition. No copy in the National Library, Jerusalem. Entirely unknown to Yudlov’s most comprehensive Bibliography of the Hagadah. Vinograd (Eupatoria 19) records a copy of only four leaves, although he clearly did not see a copy. Neither did Friedberg, from whom Vinograd quotes, who also collates this as only four leaves and failed to perceive that the “prayers” are indeed the Karaite readings for the Passover Seder. The Hagadah includes a description of the Ten Plagues and a unique blessing recited upon partaking of the Passover Matza Hamotzi lechem oni min ha’aretz (“Who brings forth poor bread from the land.”)
