summary
A fine example of Priechenfried’s realist style, this portrait is remeniscient of the portraiture of Hans Holbein. The rigidity conveys the authority of the sitter. He dominates the composition, yet a subtle incline of the head, suggests that he is none the less approachable. Famed as a genre painter of the Vienna school, Priechenfried’s oevure included many portraits of Jewish figures
300x390 mm. Framed.
