summary

“The Trieste Hagadah is undoubtedly the most distinguished illustrated edition produced in Europe during the nineteenth century.” Unlike the other illustrated Hagadahs being printed contemporaniously which reproduced the images of Hadagahs of an earlier generation, the Trieste engravings, though inspired by the iconographic themes of the past, display a welcome freshness of design. pp. (2), 24(i.e. 42). Lightly browned, usual wine stains, scattered foxing on some leaves. Gilt-tooled brick red cloth boards, bearing the initials “W.G,” rebacked. Folio
