summary
Later cast of a 19th century model.
The only prior appearance of this extraordinary lamp at auction in recent years was an earlier example, see: Sotheby’s, Jewellery and Judaica, Tel Aviv, 27th April 1989, lot 574. Although this was found with the servant-light, it too lacked the base.
Narkiss (no. 174) depicts a lamp of this design that similarly lacks the servant-light. His attribution of date is erroneous.
