summary
The Centennial Celebration was attended by King Christian X of Denmark. Due to the hostilities towards the Jews in neighboring Nazi Germany, the leaders of Copenhagen’s Jewish Community informed the King they would understand if he would decline to participate. The King’s response was: “Now I most assuredly intend to be present.” (From the Memoirs of the Late Chief Rabbi of Denmark, Rabbi Marcus Melchior)
