Later wrappers. 4to. <<*>> Tephilah al Shetef Mayim [prayer against the flooding of the River Po]. Manuscript on paper. Single page. 14.5 x 10 in. Italian square Hebrew script. Turin, 18th-century. Worn at folds, taped repairs.

The first prayer was recited during a time of drought (see Davidson no. 8148). The second prayer was recited in communities situated along the River Po, including Cremona, Ferrara, Mantua, Reggio and Turin. The Po is a river that flows eastward across northern Italy and over the centuries has been subject to heavy flooding.
