The author (1865-1932) studied in the Yeshiva of Volozhin and later in the Kollel of R. Isaac Elchanan Spector. He was ordained by R. Naphtali Tzvi Yehuda Berlin (the Netziv) and R. Chaim Soloveitchik. He was appointed to Vilna’s Great Synagogue and later immigrated to America in 1923 serving as Rabbi of Cong. Adath Yeshurun of the Bronx, NY.
