David Tevele Schiff (d. 1792), was Chief Rabbi of London’s Great Synagogue for 27 years, from 1765 until his death. The present work was published by the author’s nephew, R. Gabriel Adler, who added a final section (ff. 35-44) of novellae, entitled Kanfei Nesharim by various members of the Adler family. Rear endpaper contains in manuscript a transcription of R. Gabriel Adler’s tombstone.
