The author was the son of R. Elijah Guttmacher and a disciple of his father’s mentor, R. Akiva Eger. This work was published posthumously and his father records in the introduction here, that a guaranteed “segulah” for “yeshu’os” is the careful study of this text. In recent years, the late and revered Rebbetzin Bathsheva Kanievsky also endorsed this “segulah” and advised her many supplicants to thoroughly study this commentary.
