Only a handful of books were published in this town, located in the sub-Carpathian south-eastern corner of Poland, home over the centuries of notables including the Kli Yakar and R. Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev. The author, (1819-77) was a grandson of R. Naphtali of Ropshitz. See Tzvi M. Rabinowicz, Encyclopedia of Hassidism p. 221.
