Located in Upper Palatine, Bavaria, the town of Cham lies very close to the Czech border. As early as the 14th-century there are records of Jews resident in Cham, however in the mid-16th century the Jews were expelled from the entire Kingdom of Bavaria and were not readmitted until the 19th-century. As late as 1885 only nine Jewish families were recorded in Cham and by 1910, just 120 Jews resided there. A rare commemorative item from a miniscule German-Jewish community.
