In commemoration of the Six Million Jews killed by the German Nazis and their accomplices, the image depicts the Hebrew word “Remember” with two burning candles flanking and within a pool of blood the graphic number written large: 6,000,000. Within the digits are scenes of devastation: Destruction of synagogues, humiliation, suffering, death, cremation. At base, in Hebrew script: “For He Who Avenges Blood Remembers Them” (Psalms 9:13).
