Seeking to benefit the impoverished Jews of Eastern Europe following World War I, American Jewish relief groups united to create the Joint Distribution Committee. This poster includes pledges from the Jewish communities of Rochester, Denver, Boston, Des Moines and Salt Lake City; as well as a pitiful image of two impoverished young girls: “They appeal to YOU for your answer - IN BREAD.”
