In 1338, in the Bavarian city of Deggendorf, the Jews were accused of Host desecration, whereupon the enraged burghers entered the Jewish street and slaughtered all the inhabitants. See EJ, Vol. V cols. 1459-60. In 1475, in Trent, Italy, a Christian infant named Simon disappeared and several local Jews were accused of ritual murder and subsequently burnt at the stake. Simon was later beatified. See EJ, Vol XV cols. 1374-75.
