The Jews of Vinnitsa here petition their co-religionist Shmuel Fuliovitsch, not to be the cause of their unemployment by moving his wine-production facility to another town. Vinnitsa was a significant Jewish center in Podolia, Western Ukraine, in which “most of the important distilleries (an ancient industry, to which the town owes its name) were owned by Jews." See JE, Vol. XII, p.440. For a related manuscript concerning Jewish involvement with the wine industry in Vinnitsa, see Kestenbaum Auction 50, Lot 259
