The Author, Abraham Gomez Silveira was born in Arevalo, province of Avila, Spain, and died in Amsterdam. A poet and Jewish apologist, Silveira was a member of the poetic academy founded in Amsterdam by D. Manuel de Belmonte.

A notation in pencil on the flyleaf by Alfonso Cassuto draws our attention to the date "1737" occurring within the text of the manuscript on f. 59v
