R. Nathanel Weil (1687-1769) was one of the most prominent Rabbinical scholars of his generation. A disciple of R. Abraham Broda, he served as a Rosh Yeshiva in Prague until the edict of Maria Theresa expelled all Jews from Bohemia in 1744. A year later R. Nathanel was offered the prestigious rabbinical post in Karlsruhe where he served for some twenty years. His classic work, the Korban Nethanel (Karlsruhe, 1755), a comprehensive commentary to Rabbenu Asher (RO”SH), has since been incorporated in all standard editions of the Talmud. See JE, Vol. XII, p. 493.
