This sumptuous volume combines the ancient sources of Bible, Talmud and Josephus with the latest surveys conducted by Dr. Robinson, Captain Warren, Major Wilson, and Lieutenant Conder. The book is divided into three parts: Early Temples of the Jews; the Temple of Herod; and Christian and Saracenic Buildings in the Haram Area. The Author theorizes that the Dome of the Rock was not erected by the Caliph Omar but dates back to Emperor Constantine.
