Mordechai Chaim (Marcus Heimann) Seligsberg of Fellheim bei Memmingen was a prolific author in both Hebrew and German. The present book contains the approbations of the Rabbinate of Frankfurt a/Main: Aaron Fuld, Zalman Trier and Baer (Hakohen) Adler, as well as that of Herschel Lehren of Amsterdam and the Rabbis of Alsace-Lorraine: Hagenau, Colmar and Strasburg. A portion of the work is devoted to original rationales for the various commandments (ta'amei hamitzvoth). The book is true to the perspective of Orthodox Judaism at a time when it was threatened by the inroads of the German Reform movement
