The thrust of Abrabanel's work is a defense of Maimonides' Thirteen Principles of Faith against his detractors Crescas (Or Hashem) and Albo (Sepher ha-Ikarim). See B. Netanyahu, Don Isaac Abravanel: Statesman and Philosopher (1968), pp. 73, 85, 285, 291. The Nachmias Brothers were exiles from Spain who established their press in 1505. It was the first printing-press established beyond Europe’s borders.
