The editor, Chaim Kaplan, was a pioneering pedagogue of Hebrew in Warsaw, later he was to be killed by the German Nazis. In 1962 detailed diaries of his were uncoverd buried in Warsaw, written from the time of the invasion of Poland in 1939 until Kaplan's deportation to Treblinka in 1942. These diaries were edited and translated into English by Prof. A. I. Katsh in 1965.
