Response to Jonathan Eybescheutz’s Luchoth Eiduth (see Lot 108) - an outgrowth of the vituperative controversy which arose over amulets that Eybeschuetz dispensed in Metz. Almost all of Emden’s polemical writings were banned upon publication. According to Carmilly-Weinberger, “copies of [Shevirath Luchoth Ha’Aven] by Emden [are] difficult to obtain because the ban against [them] had been quite effective” (p. 88)
