Relations between Ben-Gurion and the Israeli Rabbinate being rather strained, one notes here the ironical wit in the Prime Minister’s statement: “Certainly I will find in [the book] several matters to which it is impossible to agree, as well as others to which I shall willingly accede. Both are dear to me, for there is room among the People of Israel for differing opinions and viewpoints, provided that they are bound by the love of Israel.”
