A ledger of pledges especially designed with incisions as a means of recording donations on the Sabbath when no writing is permitted. The Pinkas enumerates seven categories indicating the form of synagoge-aliyah received and the range of donation pledged. Each page is designated for a member of the synagogue. Many of the 38 members recorded have listed both German as well as Hebrew first names
