“Wilhelm Wachtel was born in Lvov in 1875. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and then at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. He travelled throughout Europe as well as Palestine, where he settled in 1936. Initially he painted symbolic Jewish scenes, portraits, and landscapes, later in a postimpressionistic style. He died in the United States in 1942.”
