The Asiatic Brethren was a secret fraternity which included kabbalistic lore in their teachings. In general, they attempted a synthesis of religion, science and philosophy. This particular manual, for the exclusive instruction of the initiates, deals with the four elements: fire, water, earth and air. On account of its being cloaked in secrecy (as well as its hermetic teachings), the brotherhood has always lent itself to the spinning of conspiracy theories. Historians and conspiratologists alike are still seeking to determine the link between the Rosicrucians and the Asiatic Brethren
