The author (1763-1824), a member of the illustrious Italian Recanati family, was born in Pesaro and studied under R. Yishmael Ha-Cohen of Modena (author of Zera Emeth). Recanati wrote the responsa work Piskei Recanati Ha-Achronim (Livorno, 1813)
