Upon the assassination of United Nations Mediator to Palestine, Count Folke Bernadott , the American Dr. Ralph J. Bunche (1903-1971) was appointed Acting Mediator. His perseverance and diplomatic skills, over the next six months led to armistice agreements signed between the newly created State of Israel and four of her Arab neighbors: Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon. In recognition of his achievement, Dr. Bunche received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1950. The presnt lot contains two documents pertaining to the United Nations Palestine Mission. The first is a voucher for the sum of $6,952, earmarked for Dr. Bunche’s expenses. The second is a deposit slip for that amount to Dr. Bunche’s account at Chemical Bank
