The author was born in Ancona in 1746. He was a close friend and admirer of the Chid”a and is cited in his works (see Ma’agal Tov p. 74, Igereth Chid”a (Rosenburg ed.) p.4). The author cites the Chid”a a number of times in the present work (see p. 8a, 106 a,b). See also M. Benayahu, Sefer Hachida (1959) pp. 62,97,431, who states that Chamitz helped distribute the works of the Chida. The work is important for its many citations of both Poskim and Mekubalim. Prof. Josef Avivi of Jerusalem has examined this manuscript and his comprehensive description in Hebrew is appended to the lot for further reference.
