As part of his treatise on the ancient constitution of the government of England, Sandler assesses the fate of other ancient civilizations and focuses much attention on the success of the Jews. “To this day, they shake their Palms in triumph every way (in their great Hosanna) in allusion to the Psalms and Prophets who say that “Every Tree of the wood shall shout, rejoyce, clap hands and sing for joy.” The Author alludes to the settlement of Jews in Brazil and other parts of the Americas as the start of the long awaited redemption (see pp.38-9). See also pp.74-5: “ I cannot but with honour mention him that hath so much obliged the world by his learned writings, Rab Menasseh Ben Isrel, a very learned Civil Man and a lover of our Nation.”
