Established in 1885, this congregation was first located in the Lower East Side of Manhattan at 109 Ridge Street (according to the American Jewish Year Book, 1900). It then moved to 630 East 5th Street, when in 1916 it purchased the building at 316 East 4th Street (see WPA Survey, 1939). The synagogue community catered toward Jewish immigrants to New York who stemmed from the small south-eastern Polish town of Baranów Sandomierski. It has since disbanded. For more on this New York synagogue and on the Jewish shtetl in Poland from which the founders originated, see: https://genealogy.cjh.org/synagogue/730 and https://kehilalinks.jewishgen.org/kolbuszowa/baranow/sl_baranow.htm.
